WESTFIELD, Ind. (January 7, 2026) — Era Motorsport is excited to announce that 2024 Indy NXT runner-up Jacob Abel will join the team for the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Series (IWSC), competing in the full Michelin Endurance Cup (MEC) aboard the No. 18 ORECA 07 LMP2.
After building an extensive career in open-wheel racing—from Formula 4 through IndyCar—Abel recently made his prototype debut in the Asian Le Mans Series, gaining valuable endurance racing experience ahead of his first full MEC campaign. The move to Era Motorsport marks a significant next step in his transition to sports car competition.

“I can’t wait to get going in Daytona with the Era Motorsport group,” Abel said. “It’s been a fun experience learning prototype racing, and I’m excited to take on the challenge of some of the most prestigious endurance races in the world. It’s an honor to complete such a strong driver lineup with a team that has been so successful in LMP2.”
Abel will team up with Naveen Rao and Ferdinand Habsburg for the five-race MEC schedule, bringing top-level open-wheel experience to one of IMSA’s most competitive prototype classes. Logan Sargeant will round out the lineup for the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Era Motorsport has established itself as a consistent front-runner in IMSA LMP2 competition, earning multiple endurance race victories and championship-contending performances across recent seasons. The addition of Abel further strengthens the team’s ambitions for the 2026 MEC.

“Jacob’s history in open-wheel racing is going to make him a fantastic final addition to our 2026 lineup,” said team owner Kyle Tilley. “We couldn’t be happier to welcome someone bringing his experience and racecraft to endurance racing, and as always, it is a joy to help foster that talent in young drivers.”
The 2026 IWSC season begins with the Rolex 24 at Daytona, January 25–26, 2026.
